Please help Odins family
  • I know alot of you know odin, (aka flippensweet) and some may not, Odin is a big part of this riding community. Unfortunately last night his 10 year old son Caleb had a terrible accident, I'm not clear of any of the details, all I know is that caleb is in the hospital at harborview in Seattle, and on life support. Odin is the type of person who would never turn his back on anyone in need. He would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. His family is the same way. Caleb is a great kid, full of life. Please take time to send some healing vibes and thoughts and prayers to Odins son and family! Someone on Facebook has started a paypal account to help with the medical bills that will be stacking up. If you can, every bit will help. The paypal email address is. Calebflipkors@hotmail.com.
    Thanks for your support.
  • What an unfortunate situation. My thoughts go out for the little guy.
  • Hey all,

Really sorry to report on this......

Sadly, Caleb passed away yesterday around 4 pm at Harborview. Honestly, as a new father, I can't even imagine. This was a tragic accident and they're going to need our emotional and financial support. I've seen a secondhand report of what happened and it sounds like he was playing around with acrobatic ropes and accidentally got caught up in them and suffocated. I don't know any other details, but it doesn't really matter. As some of you know, Caleb was an entertainer/performer at the farmer's market.

Our heart and thoughts go out to Odin and Mel, Josiah and Michael......the Kors family is really going to need our help to get through this tragedy.

  • Odin, My heart goes out to you and your family. I feel so freaking terrible for your loss.

    Love you man,
    Sean
  • Odin, I'm so sorry. If I can do anything at all for you please let me know.
  • Memorial services for Caleb Kors
will be at Christ The King building at 1:00 on Monday.
  • Let's show Odin and his family the support of our community. See you guys on Monday.
  • Much love to your family Odin, see you there.
    Matt
  • Thanks for the support everyone.
Words do not explain the pain we feel these days. But everyday I'm aware of more and more support from random people from different places. Friends and strangers alike have rallied to support us and the spirit is overwhelming. So much is happening to allow us to handle this more easily. He has touched so many...
There's no way to explain it other than he's not done in this world... he's still doing magic tricks

As mentioned, memorial service is this coming Monday the 16th at 1:00pm at the Christ the King building off of the guide.
This is the largest venue in Bellingham and we expect to fill it. Please feel welcome to share this Celebration of Life with us.

    Thank you
    Odin
  • I've been reflecting since yesterday's service about Caleb, Odin and Mel, Michael and Josiah and the amazing people that are surrounding the Kors family right now. It takes a village.

What an incredibly tough thing to have to push through and, yet, the circus guild folks, the farmer's market folks, the mt. bikers, the SV neighbors, their family and people they didn't even know have been smothering them with love since the tragedy. Singing songs last night was a beautiful way to end an otherwise rough day. Why does it take a tragedy like this to put things into perspective for us?

Odin, your son has found his buried treasure and there are now 6 lives that get to have a piece of Caleb's incredible energy and spirit. What a generous and selfless gift to those individuals.

    Much love, brotha.

  • Odin, I was privileged enough to be able to take away from the memorial a playing card that Caleb had made. It simply said "I am made of Stardust". It was unbelievably sad. Throughout the service all I could think about was how unfair life can be. So many people, myself included, take for granted so much. Some waste their time and talents on nothing, but indulgence of self. Others race headlong at oblivion cursing everything in their path only seeming to hang on as a testament to the costs of a life poorly lived. The worst kind are the ones who live with apathy. The ones who know the cost of everything but the value of nothing. People who can catalog what's wrong with the world and humanity, but do nothing to change either. Caleb is the contrast, the example of what can be achieved. Your son is the light that is so desperately lacking in this world, and it is terribly sad that he is gone. But I believe he is stardust. As are we all. The children who will live because of your sacrifice, will do good in this life. That good will spread like ripples, changing this world for the better. Those ripples will go on into eternity exactly like the stardust our creator made us from.
God bless you and your family, Odin, for your composure and your grace. Caleb is honored.
  • Haven't been on the site in a while and just watched the above you tube video.

It's beautiful and inspiring. From the loving parents who support such a bright star to the star himself. My heart goes out to you and your whole family Odin.
  • Hey all,

The one thing that many of us could do is help with a donated meal for Odin, Mel, Michael and Josiah. I know from just having little Cleo that we so greatly appreciated our friends dropping off a prepped meal for us.

The last thing the Kors family is probably thinking about is grocery shopping or cooking, so please sign up for a day on this calendar. There are some instructions if you click on Odin and Melanie in the box above the calendar.

    http://www.carecalendar.org/v2/calendar.php

For the meal calendar a helper can Log in with this information:

It seems like a small thing, but it really is a difference maker when you are overwhelmed in other areas of your life.

  • I love my friends...
  • I want to give a quick THANK YOU to all my friends who helped make these fundraisers successful and fun.
It’s hard for me to attend these things but at the same time oddly therapeutic. It’s a good feeling when people can come together to share and experience a wonderful cause and acknowledge the spirit of a wonderful life.
I’ve been off the grid for a bit but I think about my community every day and without the help of my friends our healing process would be much more excruciating.

For those of you interested, the Bellingham Circus Guild will be performing a special Valentine’s day show (aka Vaudevillingham).
If you've never attended, the shows are really fun and exciting, and bang for the buck entertainment-wise one of the coolest things to do in Bellingham.

This show is special in that, Strangely (Caleb’s circus teacher) is starting a scholarship program for underprivileged kids who want to get into the performing arts. All proceeds of this show are going towards the Caleb Kors Scholarship Foundation.

There are two shows; the first one is family and kid oriented whereas the second show is more for adults (PG-13).
I’ll be at the second show for sure and look forward to seeing some familiar faces.
